Mystery snails (Pomacea bridgesii) are a favourite tank mate for shrimp keepers — large, peaceful, and available in gold, blue, ivory, magenta and jade. Unlike many apple snails they leave healthy plants alone, grazing on algae, biofilm and leftover food instead.
They breathe air via a siphon and lay their eggs in a clutch above the waterline, which makes them easy to control: leave the clutch to hatch or remove it. Keep GH above 6 so shells stay hard, and leave a gap between the water and the lid.
Fully compatible with Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp. Browse UK sellers below.
